P-06-1209 Create a national list of all unpaid carers in Wales, Correspondence – Petitioner to Committee, 18.10.21

One of my main reasons for starting this petition is as follows. During the pandemic and early stages of the vaccine rollout it became evident that identifying unpaid carers in Wales was something that hadn't been properly thought through. Some carers are able to register with their GP surgery, but not all  practices provide this service, so a national register would allow all carers to self identify at a national level. This would also make it easier when dentifying unpaid carers in the future for things like further vaccine rollouts.

I am pleased to see that the Welsh Government have previously considered such a register and I urge them to take this forward at the earliest possible time.
